Central Agricultural University
CAU stands for Central Agricultural University. It is a premier agricultural university located in Imphal, Manipur, India. It was established in 1993 under the Central Agricultural University Act 1992, which merged the existing colleges of agriculture and veterinary science in the northeastern region of India.
The university has six colleges, namely, the College of Agriculture, College of Horticulture and Forestry, College of Fisheries, College of Veterinary Sciences and Animal Husbandry, College of Agricultural Engineering and Post-Harvest Technology, and College of Basic Sciences and Humanities.
CAU offers undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programs in various fields of agriculture, horticulture, veterinary sciences, fisheries, agricultural engineering, and basic sciences. The university also conducts research and extension activities in these areas.
CAU has collaborations with various national and international organizations, including the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), to promote research and development in agriculture and allied sciences. The university has been involved in the development of various technologies and practices to enhance agricultural productivity and address the issues of farmers in the northeastern region of India.
CAU has been recognized for its contribution to agricultural education, research, and extension in India. The university has received various awards and recognition, including the Best Agriculture University Award from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) in 2016.
